- ╟─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────╢
- ║ 28.8Kbps, ANSI & RIP All files are scanned for viruses! ║
- ╟─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────╢
- ║ We specialize in helping programmers (primarily C and C++), and network ║
- ║ administrators/programmers, do an outstanding job. ║
- ║ We attempt to maintain the most current files in and around Edmonton. ║
- ║ We maintain NO upload/download ratios, and NO message requirements. You ║
- ║ WILL however, get more out of C+Net by participating in both. ║
- ║ Regular file contributors (10 or more original files a month) have extra ║
- ║ time (daily!) to use C+Net. ║
- ║ Always use -d with PKUNZIP. Some archives have sub-directories and "-d" ║
- ║ will restore them properly. ║
- ║ If you don't see "Authentic files Verified! #TOE701 Gerry Danen" at the end ║
- ║ of the PKUNZIP run, DON'T USE THE FILES! They may have been tampered with! ║

- The Danen Utilities
- -------------------
-
- Below is a list of currently published "Danen Utilities."
-
- Some programs make assumptions that you should be familiar with:
- - ANSI.SYS is required by some programs.
- - Fairly extensive use is made of environment variables, such as GD.TTY.RIGHTS
- and GD.SOUND. Set GD.TTY.RIGHTS=N and some command-line programs will
- suppress copyright notices. Set GD.SOUND=N and BU won't make any noise.
- GD.D controls the default parameters for D.
- - /? will in many cases display brief help messages.
- - For programs that print to network printers, the following conventions are
- used: LPT1 is HP mode, short timeout; LPT2 is captured in a PostScript
- queue; LPT3 is in HP mode, with a long timeout.
-
- A bug was discovered with BIOS screen updates in true blue BIOS's. This has
- been corrected in programs with a date stamp after March 22, 1995.
-
- All these utilities, and more, are available on C+NET BBS: (403) 477-9545.
- THIS IS ALSO WHERE UPDATES AND BUG FIXES ARE POSTED! If you have comments,
- suggestions, feedback, please leave e-mail for the sysop.
-
- Under F/S is indicated whether a program is FreeWare or ShareWare.
-
-
- ZIP name F/S Description
- ======== === ==================================================================
- 2PS F Convert ASCII files to PostScript
- 2PS formats files for printing on a PostScript printer. The
- format used is nice and compact: normally two pages on each
- physical page, borders surrounding pages, headers with useful
- information (page number, printing date, file name), line
- numbering, etc. Useful for printing program listings.
-
- 2ROWCOL F For Batch Files: Move to Anywhere on the Screen
- 2ROWCOL enhances the use of MS-DOS batch files. Check 2R.BAT for
- examples.
-
- AUDIT_PW S NetWare Security: Audit User Passwords
- AUDIT_PW was developed to tighten up network security on Novell
- networks. Many users use very easy to guess passwords. A common
- password is a potential security leak!
- AUDIT_PW uses a file with common passwords to try on each user
- account. All common passwords are reported.
- A user info file and a status file with other security information
- are als created.
- MAKE SURE TO TURN INTRUDER DETECTION/LOCKOUT OFF BEFORE YOU START!
-
- BEEP F Batch program to beep the speaker when "BU S" doesn't
-
- BINARY F Convert decimal (int) numbers to Binary (bits)
-
- BORDER F Change border color of VGA and CGA displays
-
- BU F Batch Utility
- BU enhances the use of MS-DOS batch files. Automate AUTOEXEC.BAT
- files for BBS and network servers, build menu systems, many more
- uses! BU replaces a number of separate utility programs, such as:
- ASK, CRLF, CURSOR, HEADER, HITENTER, MSG, REDALERT, SOUND, TIMER,
- WARBLE, and YN.
-
- CAST F CAST shows the status of CASTON/CASTOFF on Novell NetWare servers.
-
- CDPATH F Save & Restore Drive/Directory Settings
- Useful little utility to go back to where you were (drive and
- directory) before you started a program.
-
- CDROM F CD-ROM Information
- Shows whether the Microsoft CD-ROM Extensions (MSCDEX) are
- installed, and if so, which version. CDROM lets you know if
- you're using and outdated MSCDEX driver.
- CDROM then tries to determine how many CD-ROM drives you have, and
- their drive letters.
-
- CONVERT F Convert decimal, hex, and octal numbers
-
- COOKIE S Fortune cookies, wisdom, funny sayings
- Try COOKIE /ANSI for a different look (BBS mode).
- ShareWare $20.
-
- D F Great DIR Replacement
- Try D /? for options.
-
- DISKIMAG F Read and Write Floppy Disk Images
- Useful for backup of floppies and for making multiple disk copies.
-
- DRIVEMAN F Enable and Disable Floppy Drive Access
- Prevent users from putting a virus on your network by turning the
- floppy drives off.
-
- DSUM S Disk Drive Summary
- DOS utility shows statistics on all physical and logical drives,
- including network, SUBST, and CD-ROM drives.
- For each drive you see volume label, total capacity, Kbytes used,
- Kbytes free, % free, low space indicator, current path, mapped
- directory, more.
- ShareWare $15 per user.
-
- DUSAGE S Netware Disk Usage Analysis
- This DOS utility is a network disk management tool. It allows
- network administrators to manage disk space on the network more
- intelligently. Indicates among others, low disk space for users
- with disk quota (volume restrictions) in place.
- ShareWare $25 per individual user, or $100 per server.
-
- EMPTYDIR F Remove Empty Directories
- NetWare administration is made difficult when users create a whole
- bunch of subdirectories, and then don't put files in them.
- EMPTYDIR is a DIS utility that identifies empty directories, and
- creates a batch file to do house cleaning if you redirect output
- to a .BAT file, e.g., EMPTYDIR * >clean.bat
-
- EQ F Capture Equipment Information
- Redirect to file if you need to send the information to someone
- via disk or modem.
-
- FATR S Change File Attributes Interactively
- Set and remove all file attributes. Even hidden status on
- directories!
- ShareWare $15 per user.
-
- FIXPATH F Fixes X:. to X:\ after NetWare drive map
- Updates the path after NetWare MAP. Changes all <drive>:. to
- <drive>:\ and creates a batch file in TEMP for you to run.
-
- GO F Move very quickly between directories
- GO provides an easy way to switch between directories. You set up
- logical names for your directories in the DOS environment.
-
- HINT F Find Text in (EXE) Files
- HINT is a specialized automatic program documenter. Real
- Programmers know that the only reliable documentation is the code
- itself, but a lot of programs come as executable code only, and
- I've never met a programmer who claims that EXE files are easy to
- read. HINT doesn't document these things, but it can help give
- some clues.
-
- MKPATH F Make a Path using BRUTE FORCE
- MKPATH is designed to lessen the amount of keying when creating
- and changing to DOS directories.
-
- Q F List Jobs in Novell NetWare Print Queues
- The job's priority, name, size, user id, date & time queued,
- status, job number, and form type are displayed.
-
- SCANDIR F Scan Directories - Cleanup!
- Part of the Danen Utilities. SCANDIR is designed as a clean-up
- utility to go through a part or all of a hard disk's files, and
- erase files if so instructed. Even read-only files can be removed
- by SCANDIR.
-
- SDIR F Sorted directory with interactive file delete
- Tag files for deletion, and then delete them all at once. Files
- may be listed by name, extension, size, date/time. View files
- before you decide to delete.
-
- SHOWDIZ F Pops up FILE_ID.DIZ on your screen for viewing
- Useful for creating ZIP files for upload.
- Observes 15 lines by 46 characters, and shows when you have
- exceeded those limits.
-
- SS S Screen saver: non-TSR locks keyboard
- Lock your keyboard with this screen saver. On Novell networks, SS
- uses the user's logon password.
- ShareWare $15 per user.
-
- ST F Change date- and timestamp of files
- Full-screen and command-line mode.
-
- TAGLINE F Tagline collection. Display at user login.
- (or anywhere else!) Like taglines on a BBS. Try the /all switch...
-
- TMSG F Tracking System for NetWare Administration
- Two programs make up the tracking system. TMSG records your
- messages in an ASCII file. TMSG_LOG takes the ASCII file,
- analyzes the records and updates two .DBF files. These .DBF files
- can then be manipulated as you see fit.
- If logged in to NetWare, messages are logged to the network In
- stand-alone mode, messages are logged to C:\.
-
- USERLIST F User Information for The Major BBS
- For Major BBS SysOps who want to do more with their user
- information, e.g. generate a birthday announcements list. Very
- flexible.
-
- VIDEO F Video Mode Change
- VIDEO allows the user to change to any of the standard PC video
- modes, as well as 43-line EGA mode, and 4 ATI EGA/VGA Wonder
- modes. Command line and interactive modes.

- bytes; total available bytes; total bytes used; block size.
-
- WHO F WHO shows who's logged in - various formats
-
- ZAP F Cleanup whole directory structures
- ZAP completely removes a directory along with its files and
- sub-directories, and its files and sub-directories, etc. Hidden,
- system, and read-only files are removed too! Optionally you may
- just delete the files and leave the directory structure intact.
